No book should have this many POVs. Had to keep a character list it was just so unnecessary. It was overall a boring read and the twist really wasn't that impactful.
⭐⭐⭐⭐
I've read nothing from this author before, but I will definitely keep my eyes peeled for any upcoming books he releases. Nine Lives was just such an entertaining, unputdownable, fun, and fast-paced read. I loved how the author payed homage to Agatha Christie's “And Then There Were None”. I found the characters intriguing. The plot kept me guessing. The twist caught me off guard...this was just an excellent read and gets two solid thumbs up from yours truly!

I started it out thinking it was a mock up of And then there were none, by Agatha Christie (which was in fact mentioned several times during the book). Considering that, it was actually way better, even if I think there were some loose ends that remained without solving.
I loved everything about this. Peter Swanson is an author that never misses for me. I loved the concept, the short chapters, the twists. The death scenes were pretty brutal and I loved how the different POVs would switch and you didn't know who would meet their end at the completion of each part. the relation to And Then There Were None was fantastic. And I LOVED the letter element at the end that tied it all together. This was exactly the type of thriller I live for and the perfect book to get me out of a pretty bad reading slump.
Listened to this audiobook in one day! Overall I really enjoyed it - it took a little bit because of the nature of listening to it vs reading it to remember all the various characters, but once I got that down, I liked learning about each one of them. The payoff at the end was not the best...it didn't really fit with the rest of the novel. Maybe there could have been more build-up or breadcrumbs left in the rest of the book to make it feel more connected. Because otherwise it ended up feeling disjointed.
This was a propulsive thriller that kept me turning the pages. I didn't particularly care for the ending and “reveal.” I would recommend it to someone looking for a quick, easy read.
Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for the digital ARC.
