Every cliché about how perfectly this book includes all my favorite things and how even though I didn't think it was possible, I loved it more than the first book.
Namesake, while still having plenty of seafaring adventure, delved into the characters and relationships that were introduced in Fable.
While I'm disappointed it's only a duology, it also had a wonderful ending. I'm sure I'll be rereading the books many times!

I really loved Fable, so when I received the e-ARC, I couldn't be more thrilled. This second novel continues right where we left off and doesn't really give you a recap, so if you forgot what happened at the end of the first one, I'd reread it.
This second book really dives more into the backstory of the main characters and how they came to be where they are. There are shocking twists and revelations but nothing too out there. The “action” revolves more around business and politics than it does on the high-seas.
Overall, it was a fun read and I enjoyed it immensely.
Finished last night with my eyes close to closing. While I really loved the first 260 pages, the last 100 fell flat for me. I don't know what I was expecting but it was so close to being a 4.5 star read. Now I'm not sure whether to rate it 3.5 or 4 stars.
Review: If you haven't read Fable, might be a tad spoilery
This was such a good conclusion to the journey we started in Fable. This book picks up where Fable left off, following Fable and her journey to prove herself to her father. We get a little more from the romance between Fable and West, but keep in mind this is a YA novel. Their relationship is just so sweet, and West would give up everything for the sake of Fable. I, as usual, enjoyed Adrienne Young's writing and storytelling. I'm convinced that I will read anything she writes. This book is full of mystery, betrayal, and adventure. The relationship between Saint and Fable is kind of a mystery throughout the entire series, but we see some resolution there at the end of this book. Overall this series was a little young for my preference, but still really good and well written. This is a YA Fantasy Romance, 14+ for some violence
Fable was one of my favorite books of 2020 and it was one I wasn't even going to read but between the ACOBAF read-along and a friend pushing it, I finally picked it up. I was so excited to get an ARC of Namesake and be able to continue reading about West and Fable.
Namesake has a very different feel to me and the stakes are way higher. Fable was all about Fable finding her father and surviving, Namesake is all about Fable deciding who she is and what she wants. I loved that we got to learn more about old characters but also a new set of characters. The world was also expanded beyond the Narrows. I also loved that one of my favorite side characters from Fable had a big role to play in Namesake and Adrienne definitely gave him what he deserved in the end.
The plot of Namesake was so intricate and there were countless times I thought it was going in one direction, then all of a sudden we went somewhere else. I read this book in a single day and loved every minute of it. Adrienne Young has grown so much as a writer since her debut and I cannot wait to see what she writes next. Anyone who loved Fable will also love Namesake. And those who have not picked up this duology need to get on it ASAP.
