My Reading Life

The first half of this book is five stars and the last half is three stars so I gave it a four. I have to say that I probably worship Pat Conroy's writing a little more than is healthy but every time I read one of his books I know I'm in for a great story. And with that I'm satisfied.

I think I would have enjoyed it more if I had read some of his novels first. I have added a few new books to my TBR list. And a few new characters have populated my imagination. It was interesting to see the South through his perspective, as well as Paris and Russian literature.

On the cover, the author's name is significantly larger than the title. This is important, fellow readers. Alarms always go off in my head when I see the author's name displayed in type that is significantly larger than that of the title. Silly me, I had assumed this was a new Conroy book. Wrong. It's a collection of recycled essays that are (mostly) about Conroy's reading life. Lots of nice pieces.
