I surprisingly really enjoyed this! Sunshine meets sunshine? Yes. Cinnamon roll MMC? More yes. This book had me laughing out loud and kicking my feet! The FMC was a little immature for her age at times, the premise of the “Arrangement” fell a little flat, and the third act break-up / lack of communication was frustrating (authors, can we stop with this already?) which is why I couldn't quite give this 4 stars. The story moves at a pretty medium pace and overall, was a nice rom-com and palette cleanser from some of my more serious/dark reads. I will definitely pick up the others in the series!
4.5 - My favorite of the series, so far! This was the perfect mix of sweet & spicy, revisiting the charming characters of Lovelight Farms. I started this today thinking “hm, I'll add something lighter to my current reads so I can switch back and forth,” but ended up being sucked into this story and these characters. My cheeks hurt from smiling so hard. These two are sweet as honey, but that does not reflect how hot some of these scenes were! I just love them. And now I'm even more excited for Charlie and Nova's book!

That was so cute. I love Layla and Caleb and was waiting for their story. It was such a fluffy book, I really enjoyed it. The scene, where Layla sees Caleb in the Hawaiian shirt, was so good. And I loved that even when they were only practicing, everything was real. Their relationship felt natural even when by the end of it I wanted to shake Layla.
I loved the friendship between Layla and ms Beatrice, it was a surprise and I loved it!
Caleb was so cute and he loves Layla so much, and he's so gentle with her!!! Amazing!!
I just knew from the start when i came across this series that this will be my favorite one of the three and well, it turned out to be true. this was so warm and so fuzzy, and it was like a comfort hug. I wanted to know how their story will unfold, how they will fall in love, what will be the third act conflict, how they will overcome it which is always so rare. their love story is one of my favorite one so far. i love caleb, he is so sweet and so tender, and layla is equally lovely and adorable

Oh my heart. Caleb is suuuuch a sweet love. He leads with kindness and loves to the absolute fullest.
Layla; the sweet bake shop owner, has trouble trusting herself and what she deserves. She has bad dating luck, and can't trust herself to fall for Caleb the way they both want.
Layla is such a sweet girl, and deserves the world. She bakes her butt off daily, and doesn't ask for much in return. She gets together with Caleb, and she finally sees him. He's had a long time crush but for a chance meeting at a bar out of town, she sees him as more than just a regular customer.
The book's title does a better job of describing my feelings towards this book than the dynamic going on between the lead couple. These two are cute with a capital Q and TOTALLY, UNQUESTIONABLY into each other. The fact that they're even unsure makes them seem dense af because I mean these signals could not be more obvious. I cannot believe that for the WHOLE plot they weren't clear on the fact that their fake dating was just them ... actually dating. Come on, people, wise up. Overall, sweet slice of life, but I will say that sweetness doesn't mix especially well when things get spicy, if you know what I mean.
3.5 and rounding up. This is such a sweet romance, literally and metaphorically. For all you food lovers out there, get ready for lots of baked goods.
I haven't read the others in the series, but I think this works very well as a standalone.
When it comes to romances, I don't get too hung up on tropes, and this one does a very good job of making me not roll my eyes at the cliche' and predictable situations. In fact, I laughed out loud a few times, which doesn't happen very often when reading.
My one big requirement when it comes to relationships in this genre is that they aren't toxic and that the plot doesn't solely rely on miscommunication/lack of communication to be the crux of the drama.
On the contrary, MIXED SIGNALS is a great example of how communication can be super hot, and is the key to a healthy, sustainable relationship.
This surprisingly steaming, charming book was an easy read, with a dual narration. They used two narrators for the audiobook, which I always appreciate.
My biggest critique is with the Act III break up and reconciliation.

I feel like there was a missed opportunity to have Layla have some real character growth. Instead of focusing on her horrendous list of blind dates, we could have dove deeper on where her insecurities stem from (both romantically and professionally), mainly her family's disapproval of her life choices. It would have made her behavior more believable and sympathetic. Instead I grew increasingly frustrated with her, despite really rooting for her the whole book. The epilogue too was a missed chance to show some growth from her. Like getting into therapy, working on those feelings of needing to prove herself, ect.

Okay, so I'm not really sure if I should really write a review for this one, or just link you to a picture of me screaming at the top of my lungs, while also holding my kindle to my heart. I don't know what BK Borison slipped in between the lines of text, but woah is it addicting. I absolutely adored every second I spent reading this series, and Mixed Signals was no different. I think I had a stupid grin on my face for most of the book. Look — if you like men who are absolutely stupid in love with their partners, then you're gonna want to pick up this series. Every single one of these books had the best hero. They were all MADLY AND WILDLY in love with their women, and it was absolutely no secret to anyone in the book.
Needless to say, I loved Mixed Signals just as much as I loved the previous two books in this series. Caleb stole a huge chunk of my romance-reading heart away from Luka and Beckett, but I couldn't pick between them if you begged me. They were all so wonderful in a million different ways. But Caleb was extraordinarily kind and soft with Layla, a family man — he loved his whole huge family, and you could tell, and most of all Caleb there for Layla when she needed him. No questions asked. THAT'S HOW IT SHOULD BE WITH A ROMANCE HERO, PEOPLE.
ANYWAY.
I've loved Layla since she first appeared on page in Lovelight Farms, and thankfully I just grew to love her even more in her own book. I wanted to shake her a couple of times, but that's pretty normal for me when it comes to heroines in romance novels. JUST TALK TO EACH OTHER, PLEASE. Use your damn words! But regardless, Layla is enormously competent and deserved the moon handed to her on a platter. (Also was anyone else like REALLY HUNGRY for baked goods during this book? GIVE ME BROWNIES, LAYLA.) I do wish we had seen more of her family, and that problematic relationship, but not a big deal. I loved the story that we got.
BASICALLY, if you haven't given this series a shot, please do so. The entire thing is on KU, and it's worth the read. Especially if you need something lighthearted and fun to ease you into the new year.
