Another ebook so maybe that’s why? But I doubt it. It was pretty flat and… The MCs sister gets into trouble at work and the whole family gets together with group hugs, sure I’m a bit messed up and my family don’t hug but it felt a little odd, than it got more so. The MC shows up to her sisters job to try and get it back?
I’m not much for paranormal or witchy cozies and I thought the talking cat would be an issue here but the dull characters and plot is. Even if a cat with human intelligence and this is actually all cats but this one just learned to talk to humans for some reason does bring up some issues but whatever.
The characters are flat and the romance is dull. Paper thin.
Being set in LA makes sense with the high end customers that Mimi has. It offered a lot of unique characters. I liked when Mimi was confidently working with the pets. I liked how she was willing to risk it for the animals and then she found others that felt like she did and she used that to her advantage. I liked the clues that the cat discovered. I thought it was really well done without being too over the top. I like how the police officer came around to get the right murderer. I like the romance. There were parts that felt realistic to a new relationship. The side story with her sister was wrapped up nicely. The dead guy wasn't a good guy, but the author still found people who loved him. I was completely wrong about who did it, but looking back I see the clues that I missed. The author started off a little over the top with everything, but she wrapped it all up so well, I can't complain.
