It was average, not horrible but not amazing either. Couldn't really connect with the characters and thought the plot could be better, which is a shame because I really love marriage of convenience books - note to myself to stop reading tiktok recs - but since i own a paperback copy i don't want to rate it too low either.
Jack was a dick for what he had done but I guess he had good intentions? Though I guess I'd forgive him more IF he and Rose had any history prior to the marriage proposal, it would make more sense for him to get involved.
One thing I loved about it - not sure if it was also in original or only in my copy (I was reading Polish translation) - was the list of all the tropes at the beginning of the book. Very clever and I wish all of the books had he tropes and cw/tw (if needed) at the beginning of the book, just like ao3 fanfictions. Would be a much better reading experience.

This is an enemies to lovers slow burn marriage of convenience romance. This was also my first book by this author and I really enjoyed it. Is the way things go down in this book a little shady? Sure but that didn't take away from my enjoyment one bit. Even though Jack is really cold and brutally honest he captured my heart immediately for some reason and he just continued to grow on me throughout the book. I loved Rose as well she brought the humor to the book.
The sexual tension between these characters just leaps off the page. They are totally perfect for each other but it takes them so long to see that hence the slow burn. I'm still not sure how much I love slow burn romances because I so desperately want the characters to be together already but every time I read one I always fall in love. I did love how even though Jack does melt a little bit throughout the book he doesn't change completely. Him being cold and distant an honest is just a part of who he is but I loved how by the end you understand him more and you can tell he's not trying to be mean at least not where Rose is concerned.
My only complaint about this book is that it felt a bit too long. Like we were getting a lot of the same things kind of and I feel like some of it should have been cut back but even still I really enjoyed this book and I look forward to reading more by this author.
DNF - I wanted to like this book so bad but I just couldn't get into it.
No plot and felt no connection to the main characters
This was so sweet, but with tension.
A slow burn marriage of convenience.
“I would share my door with you”
Sure, maybe Jack pursued Rose for odd reasons and maybe began their relationship with a lie. But they fell in love!!!!! They became family.
Especially during her sickness, my heart just aches for them.
By the last chunk, I felt like it was dragging just a tad, but overall a pretty solid romance.
I don't have home to go back to anymore, Rose. You're my home.
I love jackrose so much.
Evertything about this book is amazing, that's why is one of my favorites. I remember starting the book and being like ‘‘what?-‘'
The characters are amazing, the way Jack is so grumpy but he does everything for Rose, the way she talks a lot and always want to make conversation with him. The way they HAVE TO FAKE THE MARRIAGE, oh god, I can't.
This book has so many moments, it's really one of my favorite and i need more of my babies :(
