Yeah, I didn't make it far. I was so excited because this book sounds so cute. But, I feel like it throws us into the story and there wasn't enough background information given to me. We finally learn how they became friends, but it felt so simple to me and why is it they don't tell anyone else they are friends??
I know this book focuses on Prom, but wow... it was a bit too much for me. I was overwhelmed. Also, who seriously takes a freshman to prom? Because it sounds like Alex has gone all three previous years and the way it is written makes it sound like so many more times than that. Perhaps I misunderstood and all dances are given these types of hullabaloo.
The asking... I get it. We had a few outlandish ones at my school, but nothing super huge.
We also haven't heard anything yet about Bailey's friends, so I'm under the impression she doesn't have any? It was a bit strange to me.
Super cute concept, it just really didn't work for me.
The book is light and cute and fluffy like we expect from all YA contemporary romances. But the stakes or conflict never felt interesting enough for me to root for the characters. I also wish the development of their initial friendship was done better because that might have made me connect to them more.
Overall, I recommend this book if you like the usual YA high school stories.
