This is a book that tries to replicate the teachings of a beloved art and creativity teacher who died almost 40 years ago. There are some really great exercises in here, but overall, the book just feels incomplete.
Many of the assignments have vague instructions, or seem to be missing a crucial step. More than once I turned a page, and thought I had inadvertently turned two pages, because it was almost a non sequitur transitioning between the two pages. And for a book about art and creativity, it was, well, frankly, not very well designed. It felt like it had been put together at kinkos, then sold out of the back of someone's truck.
The classes Sister Mary Corita taught sound like they would have been amazing to attend, and I admire the authors' passion for trying to get her work out into the larger world.
