Zach is 18, een forse alcoholist, en is opgenomen in rehab. Hij lijkt niet meer te weten hoe en waarom hij daar is terecht gekomen.

Sáenz' taalgebruik maakt dat ik om de zoveel tijd weer een (ouder) boek van hem pak om te lezen. Hij is ook dichter, misschien dat dat een rol speelt.

In deze wordt erg mooi beschreven hoe iemand vanuit totale ontkenning stap voor stap zichzelf weer terugvindt, inclusief het benoemen van het monster uit de titel. Misschien nét een iets te happy ending?
