beautiful prose and use of metaphor. it took me a little longer to finish this one but overall it was enjoyable

coming back after two rereads in just 2 months. dUDE I LOVE THIS BOOK SO MUCH. everything in this book is perfect. like this is what i want every historical romance to be like.

suCH AMAZING WRITING. the most lovely heroine ever, like i could completely get where she was coming from and she was so smart & witty w the hero, oof. and the duke??? god, if men like this truly exist, i'll wait a lifetime for one. i can write 5000 word essays on how much i love and adore the duke, his cunning intelligence, his honesty w the heroine, his admiration of her.

This feels sacrilegious because this book is so well-loved, but I really disliked the book and its hero. In my opinion, he never really felt remorseful for possibly breaking the heart of an innocent, unsuspecting girl. I just couldn't get over the premise. Additionally, there was a throwaway comment about someone with spots being unattractive. This is one of my personal pet peeves as someone who has adult acne. Please let us live
