A collection of short stories from GGM.
The title story, and by far the longest, is an excellent tale of the winds of misfortune, and Eréndira's resulting cruel and fascinating repayment of her perceived debt. For me this was the most enjoyable of the stories.
The other eleven stories deal, in typical GGM fashion, with death, alternative death, magical realism. For me they were a bit hit and miss.
These stories all state the date they were written, and flicking through them they range mostly in the 1947-53 range, with the title story in 1972, one in 1962 and one in 1970. That would put this as some of his earlier work, so perhaps that is why for me, it doesn't contain the polish of some of his other works.
Solid 3 stars.
Por fin he encontrado otra vez la magia en las palabras de García Márquez, la misma sensación que sentí con quince años. Me ha conmovido con quienes no ven venir el viento de su desgracia.
