A graphic novel account of 9/11 and its aftermath, In the Shadow of the Fallen Towers begins with the attack and covers all the key events of that day as well as the key events in the weeks and months and years afterward. It explores the feelings of people who experienced the collapsed towers as well as those of rescuers and relatives of the victims and leaders in our country. It's comprehensive as well as being deeply personal.
Always weird to rate something like this. I was trying to read it as if I were a young person today who didn't remember the event, and I think in that sense it was quite effective. Obviously well researched and I appreciated how the source material was incorporated. Personally, I didn't love the art style but I do think it suited the tone of the book.
