Genuinely, what's not to love?
Re reading these books after such a long time and I'm rediscovering my love for Eve. She's such an amazing character to follow.
In this book we get a bit more of her backstory, we see her getting ready for the big wedding and we get a case that's a bit too close to home.
It was fun from beginning to end.
This was a quick listen and overall I enjoyed it. TW: There were unexpected references to child abuse and rape, if I remember on page. Even though it's a futuristic story, you can tell it was written in the 90s.
If you haven't started this series you probably don't want to read my review because while I try not to spoil anything for the book I am reviewing I could potentially spoil something from previous books. You've been warned.
I am still really enjoying this series. I love Eve. She is a Lieutenant and she's a damn good cop. She just has instincts that never lead her astray. She is flawed. She makes mistakes which makes me love her even more. She has kind of a breakthrough in this book regarding her past which I have been curious about since it was mentioned in book 1.
Roarke is still Roarke and I love him as well. He did do one thing to Eve that I did not like but Eve put him in his place so to speak so that was good.
Every time I read a whodunit book I can never 100% say that oh I know who it's going to be. I guess I am just afraid of being wrong or something. While I did have a guess for whodunit I never fully committed to it.
The ending of this one seemed really abrupt. I mean one minute the killer is confessing everything to Eve and then the next we are at Eve and Roarkes wedding and the book ends there. It doesn't even give us the wedding which I would have loved to read about. Here's to hoping it will be in the next book but I highly doubt it.
Oh I really liked this one!
Eve is really opening and growing, which is exciting to read about. She also doesn't feel as lonely anymore. Really, I absolutely grew so fond of the characters.
Peabody is a hoot! She and Eve are going to have a funny and lovely partnership, I do hope.
Roarke is still a mystery, so I hope we get to learn more about him soon!
I feel like at this time, the whole gang is together and things are gonna get even better, but if more lovely characters show up I will not be disappointed!
the book was really good. I enjoyed the book and had a hard time putting it down. Of course there was a climatic ending which I guessed almost at the end before they revealed it.
