What a wonderful story this was! Edith's story was so beautifully written–especially the imagery of being in the salt marshes. I loved seeing the growth of Clare also. Even with the twists and turns this book took, it is the kind of book I wouldn't mind reading again.
This was a good choice for book club as there were a good amount of things to discuss. The story had some twists and turns that surprised me, but made it more enjoyable. Good read!
3.5 stars rounded up to 4. I barely remember the characters from the two previous books in this series, but the flashback chapters involving Edith, the mysterious woman who bequeaths Clare her beach cottage are more engaging anyway. The current day love triangle was predictable but the mystery of Edith's past surprised me up until the very end. Might have had more impact if I had fresh memories of Clare's childhood from Love Walked In and Belong to Me; I would have rooted harder for her happy ever after with the right guy.
