I still consider myself new to this genre even though I read my first historical romance almost 3 years ago now. I've read some here and there since then but nowhere near enough to consider myself very familiar with the genre. I've never been big into historical books of any kind but I've learned that I do really like historical romances.
This was my first book by this author and I really enjoyed it. It was funny at times. The banter between Miranda and Sebastian was on point. I loved the steaminess and how both Miranda and Sebastian could be more themselves when they were with each other. Sebastian is the more uptight one who is looking for a proper lady to wed and Miranda is more the one who acts first and thinks about the consequences later. While they are complete opposites they are perfect for each other.
The only complaint I have is how all throughout the book Sebastian is constantly telling Miranda he will never marry her because he needs a proper lady to be his duchess. There's like this huge build up about that and in the end all it took was a little conversation with his mom for him to realize he was a complete idiot even though she wasn't the first person to tell him what she told him during that conversation.
Overall I really enjoyed this book and I definitely want to read the other books in this series. There are 2 more brothers and a sister however she is already married in this book so I don't know if she will have her own story or not.
This was cute and pretty fun but the “conflict” here went on for far too long and internal conflicts can just kinda feel like a slog sometimes
