This was cute, bc Killian was a total SIMP for Libby, but the rest of the book felt mostly unbelievable. The mechanics behind the music scene and all that. It felt like everything moved along way too quickly. What do I know, though? I'm not a musician, and I certainly never will be one. Who knows. Book is a fun little romp, though. Steamy plenty of times, though I do wish we had seen Libby and Killian together WITHOUT jumping into bed. Like...on a real date or something? I think it would have added a lot to their relationship, because it mostly felt based on some serious lust.
This is the first book in the VIP series by Kristen Callihan. I read the second book Managed back in May of 2021 and I enjoyed that book so much that I wanted to read the whole series at some point. I was able to read Idol as part of Tropeathon in June and again I am so glad I am reading these because I am really enjoying them.
This is Killian and Libby's story. Killian is the lead singer in a band that at the start of this book is taking a break. Killian chooses to hide out in a small town at a friend's house where he meets Libby who just so happens to be his neighbor. I thought the banter between these 2 was great. They are both dealing with some things that they slowly come to terms with throughout the book and the romance was amazing.
These two might be my favorite couple thus far (after reading three books)... maybe it is hard to pick. But their relationship, their love for each other, feels so natural, so real that it is hard not to fall for them. Killian is a sexy dork and Libby is lovely and rough. Can I say relationship goals?
I also loved their communication and their ability to cut through the BS and talk to one another, trust them, and understand them. I think my love of this aspect of them made their problem to overcome feel a bit blown out of proportion and unbelievable. I still love them though.
My first Kristen Callihan novel, won't be my last.
I'm a huge fan of witty dialogue and Killian & Liberty had that in spades.
Super steamy romance that leaps off the page, great cast of secondary characters, against a rockstar backdrop.
Win, win, win.
Great read with the author taking the time to build up the chemistry between the main characters. I could feel the tension between them when I was reading and I love books that can do that. I also appreciated that, even though this is a rockstar romance, the author didn't inundate the story with partying and groupie drama. The story felt real and relatable, with Killian and Libby both being very likable characters. The secondary characters were great too and I'll definitely be reading all of their stories.
