OKAY LISTEN- I JUST LOVEE STORIES THAT ARE MYSTERIOUS AND STORIES WHERE I CAN GUESS WHO THE SERIAL KILLER IS. Obv this isn't like The Naturals, it's a thriller for a reason.
When it first started, it was nice to see the killer have an MO, and it was quite scary seeing the faces crossed off whenever one girl was killed. I had a lot of suspicions, AND THIS BOOK FRIGHTENED ME BTW, remind me not to read books at 3am when the scene is in the woods? RIP ME-
The last few chapters was what got me. First I suspected one person, then it changed like 3 TIMES?!!! ALICE FEENEY YOU HAVE A WAY OF GIVING ME TRUST ISSUES. I PROMISE IN THE NEXT BOOK OF YOURS, I WILL BE MORE CAUTIOUS.
I just don't know how I feel about this book. Was the ending unexpected? Totally!
Did I like the ending ? No, not at all.
I couldn’t finish this book, it was so boring. I loved Daisy Darker so I’ve been trying other books by Alice Feeny, but unfortunately none of them hooked me. The main detective has been through some things for sure, but the whole knowing the victim (this isn’t a spoiler, it’s revealed early) and not saying anything was annoying, I couldn’t care less what happens to this guy. It was just slow and sad, and I don’t care what happened to the victim either. None of the characters are particularly interesting. Really wanted to like this one but I didn’t.

Wow, the end of this was hectic. I did not see the twist coming at all actually - Alice Feeney does that so well and I adore her for that. I had to pause the TV I had on in the background to pay attention in those last few chapters. I've rounded this up to 4 stars.
Compared to her other books, specifically Rock Paper Scissors and Daisy Darker, I think the characters lack something in this one. I can't quite put my finger on it, but I feel like I couldn't differentiate the two main characters from a book I read previously, for example.
Nevertheless, this is slaps, and I would recommend. I don't think there's a single book of hers that I wouldn't - and I'm definitely adding Good Bad Girl as well as I Know Who You Are to my list.
I'm a bit burnt out on full written reviews but I'm sure I'll get to this in the next few hours.

hello, welcome to my ted talk (hopefully) on why I adore alice feeney as an author. i haven't looked at the reviews for this one (because i'm scared.)
The twists in this book will have you wondering what the heck you just read (in a good way).
I thought the plot twist was dumb and not very believable but overall there was enough going on to keep me hooked till the end
this was THE BEST Alice Feeney book it almost gave me Lisa Jewell vibes and I WAS HOOKED. I just got so intrigued by the story and the characters and THE KILLER POV is so unique and I loved it definitely a favorite of the year
What a rollercoaster of a read!! For anyone who enjoys psychological thrillers (especially if you have the tendency to correctly guess endings), run to get this book!
It reminded me a lot of bingeable shows, hitting the end of each chapter to learn some integral, shocking piece of the puzzle so as never to be at a “good spot” to put down the book. It started fast and gripped me almost immediately.
The author does an amazing job pulling you in multiple directions. So many times I thought I had come to a hard conclusion on what was happening only to make me question myself on the next page (over and over and over again). The story is told switching from 2 known perspectives and a 3rd from the killer, giving you unease about both the main two characters and every character relating to each of their lives.
This was definitely one of my favorite reads. I will surely be looking at other books from this author! Highly recommend!!

Considering this isn't often regarded as Alice Feeney's strongest work, I was incredibly impressed. This had a cast of characters who were all unreliable and anyone of them could have been the Blackdown murderer. I had a few people I thought it could be but the final reveal of the murderer was a surprise to me. This was sharp and propulsive and while it follows young teenage girls and the repercussions of their actions when they were 16 into adulthood. It was so much more interesting than it sounds and I couldn't stop flipping pages. However I will warn people that there are some gritty and dark places explored in this book. Some physical and psychological cruelties played out, I wasn't expecting and some people might find distressing. However it added a grittier level to the thriller plot line that I found intriguing to read about.
Hard to pick a rating for this one.
Here's what i loved:
•The story kept me very, very interested.
•I never felt like i knew what the twist was going to be, and my theories were fun and changing throughout.
•Short chapters are my shit. Love.
Here's what i didn't like:
•The twist was... unexpected. But i almost wished it had been the revenge story it was set up to be. I wanted revenge FOR the person i suspected of the murder.
•I didn't really get the “whose story do you believe, his or hers?” thing because they literally lined up on most things and i feel like that was set up as the point of the book. Lost me on that one.
•Not to be that person but i had to take off a star just for the VERY incorrect and stigmatizing reference to OCD. Home girl, OCD and perfectionism aren't even close to the same thing!!! Get more educated editors plz.
•TW for rape and sexual assault to the max. Not for me. Had to skip those parts.
I really didn't get on with this authors first book so haven't read anything from her since, but this was available on my audiobook app so tried it and was blown away.
This is was such a good, twisty, fast paced thriller. Every time you think you know who the killer is something else happens to make you question yourself. I did have an idea of who it could be before it was revealed but still really enjoyed the ending and how it was all explained.
This was also incredibly disturbing at times, its not overly gory but some of the things that these young girls were capable of doing to each other genuinely had my skin crawling.
I absolutely recommend the audiobook for this one - the 2 narrators are brilliant and really made this a 5 star experience.
An absolutely fantastic psychological thriller, so twisty and turny that I was genuinely shocked at the end. This was incredibly well written and so compelling, I loved the characters and how three dimensional they were.
Very twisty, and kept me guessing. The last big twist/reveal was a little weird, but I did like how it was tied together.
I have a love / hate with unreliable narrators. I'm still trying to figure out which books with an unreliable narrator work for me and which don't. One thing I know for sure is that I understand the character may lie to me but I do not like it when the author lies to me.
The narration was fantastic and I liked the back and forth timeline. I was fully invested for the first 75% but the last 25% was not for me - too much whiplash and a blatant lie from the author knocked this book from a 4.5 star rating to a 3.5 star rating.

Twisty and Fun!
I have been dying to read this book and now that we are away for a few days I actually have time to myself to try and enjoy books without dwelling on everything else that is going on in my world and I am so glad I brought this on vacation with me.
This psychological thriller was cleverly mapped out, chapter by chapter, and paragraph by paragraph drawing the reader into this addictive novel. It is evident Feeney wants to captivate the reader into her brilliant setup. Told from the first-person point of view, His, Hers, and the character who speaks to us using an italics font is clearly a mesmerizing technique.
Anna is a pretty woman who has worked very hard to reach her present position as a BBC presenter of lunchtime news. She covets her job. When obstacles are presented, she is smart, mean and has many stories to reveal to the reader regarding her teen years. Explicit stories, that may shock you, but keep reading. Anna Andrews, a woman who finds solace in alcohol, seems to be sloshing from scene to scene until I cannot keep up with her torrid thoughts. She is divorced from HIM, DCI Jack Harper, probably the nicest character in the novel. The third narrator is clearly the killer. It is important to note that all three narrators are reliable but they are not purely forthcoming. I found myself wanting to figure out who the killer is so I kept on turning. You will be engrossed in what you are reading and if you are anything like me you will think that each of the main characters committed the crime at least once. Overall, this was a three-star read. It was good it was twisty and it kept me engaged but I have read books that were similar in content that I enjoyed more. I would read it again I actually even bought the audiobook and will read books by this author again.
I sometimes find that I can have a good reading experience with a book but not be satisfied with the book as a whole. That is what happened to me with this book. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book, but unfortunately I am disappointed in the ending. If the ending had been different, this could have been a 5 star read for me.
This book is told from two perspectives, Anna and Jack. Anna is a journalist covering the murder of a woman in her hometown, and Jack is the detective leading the investigation into the murder. As the story progresses, many secrets and lies are revealed, and several possible suspects are presented. To say any more than that would be getting into spoilers.
The aspect of this book that is most appealing to me is the unreliability of the narrators. Each of them has something he or she is hiding that impacts the reader's ability to trust that person. This builds suspense and keeps the reader engaged. As a reader, I was constantly trying to decipher the clues I was receiving and make judgements about the reliability of the information I was receiving.
Feeney plants so many clues in her narrative that cast suspicion on almost all of the characters in the book. Some readers might find this frustrating, but I love it. I like that every character is a suspect, and I get to conduct my own investigation as I read. For readers that enjoy playing detective, Feeney's style will be pleasing.
This book was on course to be a 5 star read for me until the killer was revealed. I do not find that the choice of killer makes sense in context of all the things we learn in the story. My disappointment with the reveal at the end is the reason the book receives only 4 stars from me.
Even though I am not 100% satisfied with the plot of the book, I still would recommend this to fans of mystery thrillers. It has an interesting crime with numerous possible suspects and enough clues to keep the reader guessing throughout.
Really unexpected twists, especially the ending. Makes you question every character. Doesn't really get interesting til after the 100th page unfortunately.
Very good twists! The characters are not amazing, I thought. But the narrative makes up for it.
Disturbingly dark and twisted - just the way I like my thrillers. Just when you think you've figured it out - guess what - you haven't! With characters you love to hate (and there are some vile ones!) and everyone a potential suspect this book is gripping and incredibly hard to put down.
The audiobook was great - the unknown narrator has their voice distorted, and it is jarring and so creepy. Many thanks to Netgalley for the ARC, I love that you do audiobooks now. They are quickly becoming my favourite medium.
