The only reason I got through this is because of how fast it read, other than that it was terrible. I despise the cheating trope with everything I have and I didn’t know that was the main trope in this book. I would’ve never read it if I knew.

I don’t think this couple will last long. Even though this was one had the best writing in the series, the plot was not good. It felt very generic and you could predict what was going to happen in every scene. Nothing was surprising or interesting. If it had been any slower paced I would’ve DNF’d.

Overall, this series is one of those where you pick the books that sound most intriguing and just read those. I’m sad that I really didn’t like any of these books 🙃

It started off good and the story was set up quickly but from there the story and romance were all over the place. Parts of the romance are done well but with such a messy plot its hard to get into.

This author can’t write good female leads. The female is someone who is supposed to be independent and strong, but she folds so quickly under every character in this book. As well she seems so blind to everything around her. This may be because the author needed this plot device to make sense of the “twists” that she has added.

Even with a messy plot and another disappointing female lead this wasn’t the worst book. For myself I would say this is in the top three books in this series. Which really doesn’t say much about the series.

I love the Little Mermaid and was looking forward to reading a reimagining of it from the darker side's perspective. While I did enjoy Venesa and Enzo I could not stand Aria. I get that is supposed to be the point but her character was overwhelming and not in a bad but good way...it was just bad.

Otherwise this wasn't a bad read overall, just not completely enjoyable.

This book was quite addicting. One of my favorite scenes was when she first tortured a guy on the table in front of Enzo and how he admired her even more. The slow burn and the spice...... chef's kiss.
