The Quentin Blake illustration evokes thoughts of Roald Dahl. I don't think that is a coincidence: this book is indeed quite similar to Dahl's books. It was funny, though not always. I found the setting too familiar, like I'd read the book before. The socio-political commentary wasn't terribly interesting. All in all, nice book to read to the kids.
