I'll never look at the pantheon of Greek gods the same way again! Some funny stuff here, and fans of the series should be ready for an odd shift in plot right at the end.
Another fabulous book by Kevin Hearne!!. This one had me very worried for Atticus though, with so many bad omens and stuff. I was on the edge of my seat throughout this book. Even on busy days, I still managed to read a few pages here and there because this series is just that good!
Edit: Re-read February 4, 2016. Definitely my least favorite. At least so far. I'm giving in to peer pressure and reading more of the series.
I really enjoy these books. They're just so much fun. That said, this is my least favorite of the series, so far. In the first two, Atticus wasn't looking for trouble, it came looking for him. This time around, he purposefully went seeking trouble, which diminishes him; to be fair the story deals with that very thing, and maybe in future books he'll be a slightly more deserving hero. Still it was fun, and the bacon latte scene is the proverbial cherry on top for me.
Wow. This book has a non-stop pace, for reasons that will be obvious to the reader but cannot be explained to others without spoilers. I just can't get enough of Atticus.
Life has gotten hairy for Atticus and Oberon and it looks like things aren't going to get any easier for the Iron Druid as his story continues. A very enjoyable series. I got the opportunity to meet Kevin Hearne this weekend at Alamosa Books, in Albuquerque, NM. WOW! So much happened in this book. I don't even know where to begin and I definitely don't want to give too much. This is one book you just have to read.
Atticus is the oldest druid alive and he has made an enemy of the god Aengus Og. After killing Aengus Og, Atticus finds that every super natural being including gods, demons, witches, fae and everything else out there want a piece of him. He is wanted dead by the demons and witches. Other beings want to employ him to get rid of other gods one being Thor. Where Atticus had one enemy Thor has the whole world as an enemy it seems. Thor being a spoiled brat takes great pride in making people's lives a living hell for the sheer entertainment of it. He has no remorse and doesn't even remember the lives he's ruined. Atticus has some pretty fantastic lawyers, two of them being Gunner and Lief who have some things to settle with Thor. They ask Atticus to help them kill Thor. Atticus accepts in book two after realizing he will need Lief to help him fight some witches that have it in for him.
Atticus has lived really low key for centuries and in a span of a month or so has walked into way too much action. He's already come close to dying several times and starts to really wonder if he wants to get into anymore trouble by killing Thor. He gets a visit from Jesus and the Morrigan who both tell him things will end badly if he goes after Thor. Taking all of that into account he still goes through with it because he has given his word to his lawyers/friends.

There are some really sad parts in this one but with a great dose of hilarious, you know, with Atticus being an eternal 21 year old and all. Good grief the things he says.
This had lots of action, lots of weaving threads, and a killer ending that will sure bring more trouble to Atticus's lawn.
I have read this entire series via audiobook and let me tell you the reader is extremely talented. At first he through me off with his American accent since Atticus is supposed to be an Irish druid. You later find out that Atticus speaks with an American accent now in order to simulate better. There were a lot more characters in this book than in any of the others and the reader did a great job in giving them all their own voice.
