5 stars! This book made my heart swell with how cute Chloe and Red are ❤️❤️ And I blushed at some of their steamier moments
3.5*
Uma historia fofa, mas gostava que tivesse tido mais profundidade. Principalmente em relação à doença da Chloe.
The book is great, the audiobook is incredible. It made me confront some of my relationship expectations as a disabled person, which was surprising and a nice bonus; apparently my expectations for disabled characters are exceedingly low. I wonder why?
I was in need of a light story to comfort my heart and I couldn't have asked for a better fit than this.
Both Chloe and Red are delightful and strong characters who face their pain and fears, and their growth warmed my heart. I especially liked that Red came from an abusive relationship, which so rarely is included in these kind of stories.
This is a well-written and very cute romance, I just could've done without the detailed descriptions of balls etc.

I have been wanting to read this book for a long time but like I tend to do with a lot of hyped books I put off reading it but luckily it ended up being March's pick for the Lost in Romance Book Club and I am so glad I have finally read it. This book tackles chronic illness. Chloe has fibromyalgia and chronic pain. It's an invisible illness and I think Talia did a great job of depicting the things someone with this illness has to go through and deal with. I don't have any personal experience with this illness so I can't comment on how accurately it's depicted I can just say that it seems like an accurate depiction and recommend you reading on voices reviews. There is more representation in this book but the chronic illness is the one that gets the most attention which isn't a bad thing, but I would have liked for other things to have been elaborated on more. Like for instance domestic violence is mentioned but it's glossed over. I loved Chloe and Red as a couple. They both have hardships from their pasts that they haven't really gotten over so they both struggle to trust so understandably there are misunderstandings and drama and the drama actually made sense to me based on what has happened to them each individually in the past. I loved the banter between the characters as well. Chole can come off as a bit of a... well a bitch but I understand why she distanced herself the way she did, and I loved how she opened up throughout the book. Overall I really loved this book and look forward to reading the other books in the series.
I have never felt more connected to a character than I did with Chloe Brown.
Chloe is plus size and has a non-visible chronic illness which comes with chronic pain. After a near death experience, she decides that she is no longer going to live in fear and coddle herself due to her illness
What I really loved was her internal monologue about dating as someone with chronic pain. The constant fear of being rejected by family, friends or lovers because you're not able to do the the same way or live up to social standards of what is expected in any form of a relationship.
Seeing the relationship between Chloe and Red develop and watching them help one another grow was absolutely amazing.
This is a must read, 10/10
This is the first romance novel I've ever read. It's a charming story and I enjoyed it, with well-written characters and fun dialogue. I liked the way the leads' traumas were handled and how they complimented each other. I didn't need or enjoy the sex scenes, but that's a me thing and it's my understanding that it's kind of part of the genre, so I recognize my issues there are more of a me thing. They were written fine, for what they were.
this book made me smile and giggle and have a ton of fun during a time in my life when there was otherwise no fun and for that i'll never forget it
the hype surrounding this book and talia hibbert is totally warranted (and i'm absolutely sure, even after only reading one of her books). her writing is fun and quick and quippy without missing a beat in terms of relationship or character building. chloe, red and even all the side characters felt incredibly real and critical to the story, which is something i feel like a lot of romance books struggled with but get a life, chloe brown excelled at.
my one gripe (and the reason i couldn't give this the full five stars) was red himself. i just really didn't like him as a love interest outside of the quippy conversations and fun rapport, so i got uncomfortable at some points with his (very horny) inner drivel and how he spoke to chloe at times.
that being said, i am SO excited to get my hands on copies of the rest of the brown sisters series, because i can't wait to meet the other sisters more in-depth! i have a feeling i'll see (perhaps too much of myself) in dani hahaha
Wholesome smut - 10/10, will read the other Brown Sisters books.
Plus, I NEED a book about Gigi. NOW.
For the Read Harder Challenge item #4: Read a book in any genre by a POC that's about joy and not trauma. There was some trauma referenced here, but overall it was just fun. Great banter. I liked it enough to want to go on to read about the other two Brown sisters.
Yeah??? it???s a no.
It was cute, I did kind of liked the characters. I did also appreciate the representation of disability.
But the constant lechery... I mean, I get it was supposed to be smutty but... Damn, it was cringy.
Also, did every comment either of them make need a half-page review on its effect on the other???s body? Like: ???Let me make you dinner???, and then we see how her nipples harden and how she can???t control herself (for what feels like an hour), and then eventually she allows him to make that dinner. A whole new meaning was given to ???slow-burn romance???.
Then, the unnecessary use of swearwords. Well, uncomfortable, to say the least. 108 times the author hat thought that ???fucking??? is the best intensifier to drive the sentence. Come on! That???s just lazy writing. (???Her answer was so fucking sweet.??? ???I fucking love you.??? ???She needed a decent fucking friend.??? ???He???d been drooling over her fucking ankles for weeks.??? ???Kissing your fucking hand.??? ??? I could go on???)
All in all, it had it's moments. But I won't be reading the other two.
this book was absolutely adorable, i found myself really connecting & caring about the characters therefore it made my experience with them much more enjoyable, chloe & red are quite literally perfect for each other. i think it's worth it to take a peek into their lives & see for yourself how cute they are together. the conflict really made this story believable and i felt like i was reading about real people, it was great. i also really felt myself being concerned & became emotional for both of the characters due to chloe's chronic pain & red's experience in a toxic relationship. this book was so fun & i can't wait to continue the brown sisters trilogy!
Cute. Adorable. Amusing. I did wish there were more family moments for both Chloe and Red. But it was still so much fun to read. Red feels about Chloe the way I feel about my wife, basically. D'oh! Anyway, yeah. Loved it, though might love Eve's book just a little more. We'll see what happens when I finally get hold of Dani's book.
Adored this book. A sweet story with interesting characters that you can't help but root for the whole time. I appreciated that disability and mental health were written with such care and nuance and didn't define them completely. Both characters were aware of themselves and showed a maturity and growth that I feel is rare in a chick lit romance. So good :)
Aw I just loved this so bloody much!! As a sufferer of chronic pain and an avid lover of a good list, this just spoke to me on every page. Love love love everything about it (maybe apart from some super cringe dirty talk!
Everything was going well until near the finale, when suddenly all the potential / unsolved drama got thrown in together and then resolved in the span of like... 3 chapters. If only it wasn't so obviously pushed in last minute like that, maybe the whole thing would've felt less contrived. I also didn't really like how this is about a relationship that begins with both parties having baggage, particularly on Red's end. I had a feeling at some point he would do what he ends up doing, and it just doesn't sit well with me even if it gets solved in like five minutes.
The story and characters are pretty cute though.
Uhhh...this is awkward.
This wasn't that bad and occasionally really funny but also clichéd as fuck. I had high expectations because this book is hyped but alas! Why the fuck can we not have nice things?
I also could not be free from that cursed “miscommunication” trope. Sigh. Lemme just say, I called it!
I will still be picking up the next book because I've heard it's gets better, just not right away.
