Forest of Souls

The characters didn't capture me and the book is way too slow. I don't think I will continue with the series. This really makes me sad because I was looking forward to reading this book.

I had a hard time rating this book.
There was parts of it that I really, really liked and then... Sirscha made so many stupid decisions.

A classic chosen one type adventure yarn with some neat world building which helps to avoid some of the tropes of the genre. The repressed minority theme is well done, with a well built and designed magic system with some proper hard magic elements form the basis of the story - nothing spectacularly original, but the sense of the world that has been built with its distinctive character gives a good quality to the story.

There are some fun twists and turns on the way allowing what could be a derivative storyline to maintain some good freshness. An enjoyable and easy to read story that kept me interested throughout
