Flock: Spotting a Fuckboy for Dummies
This steaming pile of crap triggered some PTSD and made me feel nonstop rage making me remember all the shitty boys who ever pursued me or I was dumb enough to date. Literally every character sucks. They're all assholes or stupid af. Sean is one constant red flag after another. He is everything I do not want in a man in reality or my books. I've dated my fair share of Sean's. He can go get hit by a bus. Rapey creep. Fuck off and die.
Where's the line to slap some sense into Cecelia? I tried so hard to give her some leeway since she is so young and dumb with the most oblivious parents on the planet. I just feel mad on her behalf and sorry for her. My dad would have taken Sean by the back of his neck and told him if he came sniffing around again he'd be eating his own teeth.
If a boy breaks your personal belongings kick him to the curb.
If a boy has terrible friends, he's just as terrible. Pun intended, birds of a feather flock together.
If a boy doesn't defend you, news flash, he doesn't really like you. He's not worth any more of your time.
Surprisingly I really liked this one.
I wasn't expecting that last twist at all
I want to judge her so much for letting them gaslight the shit out of her but I know that I'd definitely do the same, if not worse.
I love the fact that I'm just as confused as she is and we can share that frustration.
Excited to see where this story is gonna go
I can't say that I loved any of the characters, but something about this book kept me going. It certainly didn't take me long to get to the end and darn it if the ending didn't have me wanting to immediately read the next book.
Audiobook and e-book with a buddy read group message.
OK, I was a little nervous at first unsure what this book was about and reviews are so mixed, but holy cow this book rocked my socks. I read it in less than 2 days. VERY spicy but it was much more than my traditional romance book. Much more of a storyline and even their basic conversations make you think. One example Sean is against social media because it gives everyone a megaphone and a platform to use it!
Not my usual genre but decided to give it a shot based on @farmhousevernacular's recommendation on IG, and I enjoyed it. 3.5 with ups and downs. This was a solid 4 for most of the book but trended downward in the last 20% or so, with an ending that can't even be called a cliffhanger - it just stopped. Obviously this is part of a duology (trilogy, now?) so I get that it's going to continue on, but there was zero effort made to have this be a self-contained story arc. There were a couple of lazy edits (I think the author thinks the word “enrapt” is “on rapt”?) but overall fun writing and decent dialogue. Spicy with a twist I didn't expect.
This book gives off Fast & Furious vibes. Character named Dom, who is the ring leader, he works at a garage, races cars, and is part of a group we don't know much about. This book gave me so many different emotions. I was hysterical when Cecelia got drunk and got thrown out of the party by Dom. I was annoyed with how Dom treats her throughout most of the book. I swooned when we find out Dom sneaked into her room, found out her fav books, and bought her some for his room. Chapter 25 “the lake scene” had me fanning myself. I was devastated with how they told her they would keep the 3 of them secret and then humiliated her in front of everyone.

so...this is awkward ahem
i did not love this book like at all. the writing i will say is phenomenal and i was intrigued throughout this but it felt like just a whole bunch of set up. nothing really happened in this book at all. and i feel like the second book is going to be phenomenal...but this one just wasn't. idk what i'm missing but i just was let down since this was sooooo hyped.
Another DNF– 82% (8H22M) in. I had no idea what the book was about going in, only that the overall ratings were pretty good and the author is well-liked. I pushed past some questionable treatment of the heroine a couple of times, but I've reached my stopping point, for the spoiler-y reasons that follow.
Cecilia and guy1 have a date. She's bought a fancy dress, got her hair did, and cooked him dinner. He's 6 hours late, and she's the a$$hole because she expected an apology from him rather than guess he had something come up. Mind you, he's not a GD trauma surgeon on call--he's an anti-cellphone thief. He couldn't call because of THE MAN and, in his opinion, she's just too young for him if she can't accept that. I stopped listening when she agreed with him. WTactualF.I didn't care about the polyamorous relationship. It was kind of weird, but to each her own. My issue was with the dudes. They're generally dicks who seem to be part of a cult. I guess I'll never know the whole 3-book story.
I guess it just wasn't for me. On to the next....
A perfect mix of sweet and spicy!
What did I just read? Perfection. I originally thought this was going to be over-hyped and I wouldn't like it. HA. Jokes on me. Sean is seriously the most perfect man. Intelligent (even if his views are a little out there), sweet, caring and spicy! He's almost too good to be true. Dom is broody, and grumpy most of the time, but as the book continues we see a bit more about him that shows that underneath all those walls is a man who just wants to feel loved.
Cecelia, while trying to figure her life out, has wound up between these two men and holy Hannah. I'm so intrigued and I need to continue!
