I was a Rainbow Rowell fan. Loved E&P. dug up an old ARC of her earlier novel, Attachments. Loved it, too.
And then I read Fangirl. Fangirl ended my RR fandom.
(I hate telling you this. I wish I had better news.)
Fangirl started off great. Loved how Rowell took me into the life of a fan fiction writer. Loved her romantic conflicts (Could there be a more interesting romantic entanglement for a reader than to fall in love with a virtual nonreader?)
But about 4/5ths of the way through the book, everything seemed to be tidied up...Relationship Established...Fan Fiction Accepted...and it all felt too rushed and too neat. Too Happily Ever After.
There is always the possibility (probability?) that I'm just a jaded old lady. Think that if you will, if you don't like this review.
