The first book since Lucas left the BCA and it was quite good. I spent most of the time literally biting my nails and also thinking about how long Sandford could sustain this badge-less Davenport. But now I really can't wait for the next book and the latest chapter in Davenport's career.
As usual, the latest installment of the Prey novels was full of rich and colorful characters, a complicated but easily followed plot with a subplot or two to keep things extremely interesting and that slight bit of humor ever now and then. Now I don't know what else to do but go back and re-read the older books until Virgil's next book comes out!
In the midst of all my other books, I had forgotten how much I enjoy this series. Lucas is, again, digging, thinking, driving towards finding answers to his question. The usage of interpersonal tactics and intelligence to solve a mystery is again well done by John Sandford. Again, Lucas has grown as a character through this book, adding to the growth from the brash young hothead in book one until now.
