It drew me in immediately and I finished it in a day, having a hard time taking a break. Learning the reasons for various things in Clara's world, one bit at a time, as Nick's character describes his last few months was a little frustrating (constant time shifting) but wholly worth it.
Honestly, the short sentences and stupidity of people are too much of a put me down.
I'm sad that my last book of 2017 was such a disappointment, but there it is.
I am a little confused in regards to how I feel about this book. While I sympathized with Clara for the loss of her husband and the exhaustion she had to have been feeling mostly I just felt like she was jumping to these way-out-there, crazy conclusions. I suppose the whole thing is about how one little thing snowballs until everything is out of control, but I just felt like this story snowballed without any real purpose.
Life can change in an instant. That is exactly what happens to Clara Solberg. Sleep-deprived and cranky, she has an impatient and careless conversation with her husband, not realizing it will be the last time she speaks to him. Nick dies in a senseless accident, but things don't add up and Clara suspects there is more to the crash then meets the eye.
The book is told from two points of view, Nick's unraveling life before the accidents, and Clara's shell-shocked reaction to the disturbing evidence coming to light. Fast-paced with a twisty path, Every last Lie will have a reader questioning everyone in Clara and Nick's orbit, wondering who was responsible for the destruction of their picture-perfect world.
Great book. Once again, Mary Kubica did not disappoint. I loved the story and hung on to every word. It was a touching story and made you think. Definitely recommend.
