THE ENDING ACTUALLY DESTROYED ME!!!!!! I don't know how I am going let go of this world when I finish the series. SJM does it every single time!!
Wow wow wow!!! Shit went downnnnnn! I felt like the different characters finally got their back story and motivation in check so it was way easier to understand why they acted the way they did. Because not all characters were aware of the plans of other characters, I kept being surprised! This book also really tied back well with The Assassin's blade, which I loved!! And holy moly, the ending!!! Can't wait to read the next book to see what's gonna happen!
When I say that I knew some of the ending would happen, I can thank fanarts for that, but I never realised it would happen like that and so soon. It made my heart hurt a bit, but apparently I'm not so attached to Aelin so when the end did come I wasn't in tears like with the previous books. Still, one thing I can commend Sarah for is her ability to make the final 100 pages of her books the most intense and amazing.
4.5 stars for the lovely book!
Estava sem coragem para acabar este livro porque tinha o pressentimento que ia ficar destruída. Acabei-o e guess what: estou destruída...
I am really torn about how I feel about this book. I really want to love this series because I feel like it has potential, however, it continues to fall flat for me. I think my biggest gripe is the character development. At the beginning of the series I felt that all the characters were very unique and distinct, however, as the series moves on I feel like the characters are all becoming the same?? Like they all are too witty, too perfect and too angsty. I wish they had more flaws and depth that made them feel more real, I think then I would connect with this series more.
4.5★ i read this in tandem with Tower of Dawn.
this book took the series to a whole new level for me! prior to this i didn't care much for many of the characters. but i loved this adventure, i love Manon (her chapters bored me to death in Queen of Shadows), and i can't wait to read about the fates of Lorcan, Elide, Lysandra, Aedion, Dorian and of course, Aelin and Rowan.
So first, you're all like, “yo-ho, yo-ho! a pirates life for me,” then all of a sudden... BAM!!! ✨emotional damage✨
Tandem Read Review
Empire of Storms and Tower of Dawn, read in tandem, offer an immersive and masterful continuation of a beloved series. These books are brilliantly crafted, weaving together intricate plots and character arcs that provide satisfying conclusions to questions that have lingered since the series' inception. The narrative is skillfully structured, setting the stage for what promises to be an epic finale. However, one aspect that might not sit well with some readers is the inclusion of a romantic subplot involving a couple with incestuous undertones. This element, while controversial, is handled with a level of sensitivity, but it may still be a point of contention for certain readers. Overall, these books are a testament to the author's ability to create a rich, compelling fantasy world, balancing the weight of longstanding mysteries with the excitement of setting up a grand conclusion.
I won...but at what cost...literally you could stab me in the stomach and it would hurt less. I need a hug. I WAS READING ON BORROWED TIME FR
The emotional pain I endured reading the last 50 pages of this book cannot be put into words. Gah.
“nameless is my price.”
sarah janet maas, what have you done?? how could you do this?
I've been buddy reading this entire series with Destiny this year. She's read them all before except for the last book and this is my first time reading them. I am loving reading these books with her and being able to talk through everything with her.
I honestly don't know what to say that I haven't already said before. I'm absolutely loving these books. Aelin has grown so so much since we first met her and my heart breaks for her. For everything she's gone through and everything that's still to come. It just isn't fair. In this book so characters from the novellas make appearances. It took me a minute to remember who exactly they were but I like how things have come full circle in a way.
Sarah J. Maas is really not holding back and I am so worried for all of my favorite characters which is pretty much all of them. I don't know if my heart can take any of them dying. I just know this is going to end up being one of my favorite series of all time once I finish it. It's just epic!!!!
I feel like my decision for my favorite book of this series just keeps changing as I keep reading. I mean obviously the one where everyone finally pairs off and can no longer be classified as YA is going to be my ultimate favorite though. I love these characters. I will murder everyone on the planet if anything happens to Lysandra. Lehabah was my favorite and look what happened to her. Lysandra better live and be happy with Aedion. I wish there was more Rowan POV. I feel like we don't really get much of his personality outside of his devotion to Aelin and his power. Still in love with him though... The best part of this book was that Chaol wasn't in it.
Bis 60-70% war es ok und fand es etwas langatmig, das Ende konnte mich dann wieder voll überzeugen und ich freu mich schon auf Band 6
Ow. My heart is broken.
In a good way? I guess? Empire of Storm is phenomenal, and I love seeing all of Aelin's schemes and plots come to fruition but oh my god that ending. OW.
I do wish, and have for the past two novels, that we could SEE her planning out the schemes a little more, but it is so much fun to see them grow out right under our (and the character's) noses.
Continuing right into the next book because I NEED to know what happens next, oh my god.
