Embers in the House of Night collects the first translations into English of poems by Edvard Kocbek. Slovenia's greatest contemporary poet, as selected and rendered by Sonja Kravanja, her nation's premier translator. Kocbek writes lyrically of love, life, death, and womanhood. He also muses on political suppression from his vantage of 15 years under house arrest.
