Electrodomésticos: Stories

Inspired, in part, by McCavana's own family history in Bilbao, Electrodomésticos is set in the Spanish Basque Country during the fifty years following the Spanish Civil War. The stories blend magical realism with pastoral sensibility as the characters struggle with allegiances both political and personal, their attempts at independence coinciding with the region's growing nationalist fervor. A beautiful debut about place, language, and identity from a promising new voice.
