Dumb Witness

A well worth second reading, with great graphics, and Marek has put in, what I think is a sneaky drawing of the boy detective, Tin Tin, but you'll have to find him yourself! I've never liked the title “Dumb Witness”, but checking on the Goodreads list, the other title “Poirot Loses a Client” is well, not the same; I'll just have to live with it.

This one was alright. Surprisingly, I was enjoying the audiobook format more than when I switched to the ebook, but both were due back soon and I knew I could get through the ebook quicker.

But a few good quips and Hastings of course had a good moment or two. Loved the dog, Bob!

I just love Agatha's books.

Delighted by the inclusion of the dog's voice! I'd have loved more of this endearing quirkiness in an otherwise dependably competent mystery with a range of sharply, slyly observed characters I was rather relieved to leave behind on finishing.

Another fantastic Christie mystery which tricked me yet again (I was so sure that I'd worked it out). Actually rather shocked (and maybe a tiny bit disappointed in M. Poirot) at the denouement.
Obviously Bob was my favourite character “woof”, excellent stuff!

The ending was just so good that it makes the whole book a need to read. The one person I thought ‘no it couldn't be' It was ! And the evidence behind it and what happened was just so well done. This is definitely a who dunnit for the pros to work out. I could just be dumb but it was so well done in my opinion.

Solid story with a cast of characters small enough that it was easy to keep track, plus there were some delightful bits with Hastings and Bob the dog.

Как уже было сказано, смерть Эмили Арунделл никого не удивило, однако ее завещание вызвало массу толков. После смерти женщины только и говорили, что об этом завещании. Как это часто бывает, оказалось слишком много претендентов на него и многих оно не устраивало совсем.
Мне было скучновато. Догадаться не догадалась, но откровенно все оказалось довольно скучным - и убийца, и причина.

4 stars - but only in its kind. I get rather bored bij this kind of detectives, where in the last chapter everythings gets reversed. Love the often witty descriptions of people in Christie - the beginnings are usually more interesting, therefore, than the endings. Pity.
