Meh

Pierde o stea pentru că e prea lungită, mai ales pe final (are peste 900 pag), și pentru că oferă prea mult spațiu unui personaj care nu e credibil ca individ, ci e mai degrabă un McGuffin (mă refer la Kurtz).
În rest, pentru mine a fost de 5/5 pentru că a fost SK de stil vechi, gen IT (la care și face mai multe trimiteri directe, din moment ce o parte a acțiunii se petrece în Derry) și pentru că deși a pornit de la o idee răs-banală (invazia omuleților gri cu capul mare, e parțial SF), tot a ieșit o carte captivantă. Și pentru că îmi place la SK atunci când un grup de prieteni se confruntă cu un monstru simultan clar și totuși extrem de greu de înțeles și previzionat.
A, și spre deosebire de foarte mulți alți cititori, pe mine nu m-a deranjat excesul de flatulențe, fecale și vome, din moment ce-s justificate medical și nu doar așa, din burtă (pun intended pt cine știe ce monștri are cartea).

This is my second time reading this novel. I read this right after I read IT when I was a sophmore in highschool and I liked this so much more in my 30s..
This novel starts out slow, and at first is written in present tense making it difficult to read and follow. However, after the first chapter it really picks up and becomes an entertaining story that kept me reading to the very end. I love Stephen King I have made it my mission to read more of his books this year and I am really glad I decided to reread this again this year. I am always drawn to his stories that have that friendship connection, it makes it more readable and I tend to finish them much quicker.

Dreamcatcher is not for everyone. But It surely is amazing. I've seen the movie as well and the book is far better. For starters, the book is able to paint a better picture for the reader, then the movie did on back stories. My only problem is how hollywood changed the story half way through. So that is one big reason why people should read this book. Another is that it has the same dedication to the way Mr. King plays on words as he did with some of his earlier work. All in all, for myself, it's a 4 out of 5 star review. The reason it doesn't have 5 stars? Not as gripping as some of his other books.
