Don't be fooled by the cover; this is a very well written book. (Though I do wish it had a different cover because this one is just embarrassing.) I took a chance on it based on what other people said about it being surprisingly well-written and I am very glad I did.
For one thing, it actually talks about the stigma of homosexuality in Victorian times. Also, the guys are absolutely charming with Dean being so deep in the closet he doesn't even realize he's there and Rob being a very intelligent, compassionate prostitute.
The romance itself is very nice and they build up a surprising friendship and it allows the reader to care about them as people. (I also loved the ghost hunting part of the story!)
There was also a bit of a look at learning disabilities and mental problems. I thought it was handled very sensitively and not heavy handed at all. All in all, I liked this book a surprising amount.
