The powerful, moving and truly unique new novel from the bestselling author of Burial Rites and The Good People.

Unfortunately, I was unable to finish it. I never would have thought that I would abandon a novel by Hannah Kent but I just couldn't bring myself to care about the fate of any of the characters.
The writing is beautiful, evocative and poetic but the storyline becomes slower and slower, the endless pining of teenage girls are not my cup of tea when it comes to Literature and the main twist seemed absurd to me.
No doubt the majority will adore it but for me, it was an unpredictable, severe disappointment.
Many thanks to Pan Macmillan and NetGalley for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.
