Der Fluch des Pharaonengrabes

This is not one of my favourites of the series. Much of the story consists of a convoluted murder mystery that doesn't fascinate me. However, the character interactions are mildly entertaining, and the brief appearances of Amelia's young son Ramses in Chapters 1 and 2 are hilarious—although he doesn't appear again until the next book.

Amelia & Emerson are persuaded by the widowed Lady Baskerville to dig at her late husband's site in Egypt. Rumours abound that a pharaoh's curse will strike anyone who enters the tomb, and indeed accidents and murders start happening. The Emerson's are followed by a keen, and impudent young journalist and a motley collection of characters from various countries. 

These are all basically the same, but I enjoy Amelia a lot.

This book is very similar to the first one, but since the characters are more developed I maybe enjoyed reading it more. It is really more of an adventure story than a mystery—it doesn't have the puzzle elements that normal whodunnits have. Plus the mystery element was just as easy to guess this time as last time. But I still enjoyed reading it.

Fast paced, fun loving, Egyptian mystery!

Amelia Peabody is at it again! She and her archaeologist husband are solving crimes and tombs are not the only thing they are digging for. If you need a good chuckle, or a great mystery that will keep you guessing until the last couple of pages, then you have found your poison. The Emerson's just want a quiet digging season, but with a curse, missing persons and possibly a murder, it is anything but. Add in a damsel in distress, and a woman who thinks she is Egyptian royalty reincarnate, and it makes for one digging season for the books.. literally. As they work through the disturbances, a reporter has made a nuisance of himself through asking questions and reporting back on their to-do's. He somehow always manages to be in the right place at the wrong time.

These delightful mysteries will leave you wanting more and hooked from the first page to the last! I love these mysteries but of course reading about anything Egyptian is fascinating! Buckle up for a fun ride and enjoy the adventure!! You won't be sorry!

This was a good historical mystery. I liked the interaction between Peabody and Emerson as they both try to solve the string of murders surrounding the archaeological dig. I look forward to reading third book in the series, The Mummy Case.
