The ending should have been the middle of the book. I'm so happy I rented the third book otherwise I would be unhappy... Downgraded it by a star for it..
Well that was quite the cliffhanger. I definitely enjoyed this second book more than the first. We got to learn more about the Council and the world which was really interesting. Plus we got to meet Sophie's dad. At the end of the 1st book we were left with the cliffhanger of what Sophie was actually capable of and in this book we saw her learn more about her powers and how to control them.
However, this book added a love triangle. And I hate love triangles, they seem unnecessary in most books and I just don't see their value. I really dislike Archer and Cal seems like such a better guy for Sophie. But we still have a whole other book before we find out which guy Sophie ends up with.
This book definitely set up what is to come with the battle between the Prodigium and the Eye. And it definitely looks like the final book will be filled with lots of action and twists as the rest of the story unfolds.
I am so over the stupid love triangle in this book, I genuinely could not care less if Sophie ends up with Archer or Cal - you're 16, what difference does it make? That being said, I enjoyed this book more than the first one. Sophie is adorable and Jenna is brilliant. That is all, 4 stars.
I liked this one a lot more than the first book. Again, a surprisingly quick read.

A fun read for a sequel. Lots of stuff going on and surprises around every corner. Definitely a cliff hanger ending and I can't wait to see where this new twist takes us!
The Hex Hall series is quickly becoming one of my favorite YA series. The writing is crisp, the characters are snarky and realistic and the books are just fun to read. On the other hand... OMG... way to end this book on a cliff hanger. Hawkins, I hope you release the next book soon cos... darn it, I NEED to know how this ends.
