It isn't a bad book, but I think I'm just tired of Sookie and her relationships. I do totally see where this is going and I don't quite understand.... I think what is worse is that I rooted for him before, only giving up because I liked someone else more.
Sookie's in trouble again. A young girl who was found on Eric's property ha been killed. Eric was drinking her blood earlier in the evening. He or Sookie or Bill are suspects. Raphael the King of Louisianna is in town to find out what happened to Victor. Sookie finds a cluviel dor that was given to her from fairy that fathered her children. Everyone seems to be trying to separate Sookie and Eric. Her fae family included. Good addition to the series.
This series is ambling to a DULL conclusion. I still really love the mundane southern supernatural atmosphere Harris created, however, and I want to know what happens to them all. Looking forward to closing out the story with the next book. And I hope Charlaine Harris creates a new southern heroine sometime soon!
Every time I read a Sookie Stackhouse book I'm entertained a bit, but then I start thinking that I should stop reading these books. They're really not all that great.
But then Harris just knocks me out of the water. Took my breath away for a few seconds there. Even after I knew what was happening I still couldn't breathe, afraid that if I did something would go terribly wrong. In a story I had no control over. I know, it doesn't make sense, but I wasn't thinking sense at the time!
Deadlocked was a little depressing. My favorite people were a little absent. We were much more involved in the fae & were-world than vamps despite all the stuff that was going on. However, my favorite bit came from the vampires: ‘“We came to wish you a happy day,” Eric said. “And I suppose, as usual, Bill will want to express his undying love that surpasses my love, as he'll tell you - and Pam will want to say something sarcastic and nearly painful, while reminding you that she loves you, too.”‘
Pam is the only one who is my favorite on both the tv show and in the books. I really think she needs her own series. And with events the way they were left here I worry about what will happen in the future. I have until May to wait it out.
Took forever for something to happen. I get so tired of her describing things Sookie is doing.. “Oh, I painted my toenails to feel girly.” Sometimes I am completely ashamed that I read these books at all, and am only hanging on because I've read so many of them I feel like I have to keep going. At least they are short. Also, please stop saying Sookie is watching Jeopardy. Sookie watches a lot of Jeopardy for someone who “never gets a single question right.”
A great beach read. The series is definitely winding down; this book's greatest achievement seems to be whetting the audience's appetite for the final book, allowing Sookie to take a well-deserved rest and settle down with the supernatural of her choice.
