I'll admit the beginning felt a bit slow for me, but as I kept reading, I found myself more and more invested in the unfolding narrative. Megan Miranda skillfully weaves a tapestry of emotions, exploring themes of motherhood, identity, and the hidden truths that shape us. SO GOOD! I will say, I knew who the “bad guy” was right away, but this was still totally worth the read.

Brought this on a trip to the NC mountains to read with me since it was the setting of the book and it was the perfect mountain read. 

This was a beautiful mysterious telling of small town life and all it's secrets. It kept me guessing until the very end and I didn't see the twist going. 

I've never read a Megan Miranda book before but definitely will be adding more to my TBR. Really enjoyed this thriller!

this is Megan Miranda's BEST BOOK YET, I was obsessed with it and read it in 3 sittings I couldn't put it down and it will definitely be a favorite of the year

Was too boring and repetitive for me. I can't vibe with this author, I think this is the last one I'll try by her. 

I always enjoy Megan Miranda's books but this one was lacking a bit for me - perhaps the story line of a woman coming back to her old hometown and in the process getting immersed in a decades-long unsolved disappearance, possible murder, is just not a fresh concept for me. Seems like every other suspense I read has this loose plot. Probably not fair to take off one star for that, but usually I have found Miranda's books a bit more inventive, so maybe I hold her to a higher bar than others.
