I had a lot of fun with this one (nerdy heroes ftw!). :)
I really love how the group dynamics work (and the guys' “gossip phone tree” at the end made me laugh out loud) .
Fun, quirky characters. A very entertaining read!!
Marie is so genuine and I love that for her.
2020 Re-read
Before re-reading the series I kept thinking about this book, wanting to read it again. I remember thinking my favorite mmc in the series was a tie between Alex, Greg, Matt & Dan. Then I almost skipped books to re-read this one, but I'm glad I stuck to the series (mostly... sorry Liz and Nico...) because I'm a wee bit disappointed on the re-read. Perhaps it is because I listened to the audio so I heard so much or .... because I've read more romance since 2017.
The thing is, as much as I liked Marie, I'm not totally sold on Matt. He definitely grew on me throughout the book and I do like him more than Nico & Quinn (not that I dislike those two!!), but there are parts during this book that thoroughly annoyed me. It mostly felt like the same conversations, the same thoughts over and over again. If they had been upfront with each other half the book could have been cut out. So, I liked him, liked the relationship, but I must have over-hyped them. I mean putting him on the same level with Alex?? Alex, who makes me smile whenever he appears in these books? No.
So, my current mood would put this book at a 4 or 3.5 stars, buuuutt I'll keep it at 5 for my past love and will adjust the rating -if need be - the next time I re-read this. Because I'm sure there will be another re-read of this series.
Now, onto Kat & Dan.
————————–
Well, I have finally caught up in this series... I'm not okay.
I wasn't sure if I was going to like this story, especially since I've been waiting for Kat & Dan's story since I read book #1.5 and I truthfully haven't paid much attention to Marie. That was a big mistake.
Marie is so fun and awesome.
I was hesitant about Matt, but damn, I am so weak for geeks. ;)
They ended up being a great couple and I loved reading about them, even if I felt that some scenes did not seem realistic. Kissing (on the cheek) and hugging and cuddling friends in a non-romantic way just never seems real to me. That just screams relationship. Taken separately maybe, but idk, something I always struggle with.
Anyhow, now I have months to wait for the next book in the series which was even hinted at IN THIS ONE! I can and will wait patiently, but I am ready to JUMP on that next book ^_^
