Just not realistic. The nature writing was good but the rest nah. Also the feeling of being too ya for me.
You couldn't help but feel sorry for Kya and hope that she finds happiness. Very intriguing story
uhhhh author is literally a murderer and is wanted for questioning... the fact she's avoiding it tells ME everything
Whenever I'd put this book down, I'd talk in a southern accent for like a half-hour. I cried, it was great
What can I say? This is as close a perfect novel as can be. A story about rejection, love, acceptance, forgiveness, but most of all, a story about loneliness and survival. The ending was just perfect.
The dialogue was ridiculous and very distracting to the story. The words used to describe the setting were way too detailed and complicated. It was unnecessary and seemed to be used to just sound smart. Not interested in reading this any further.
This book was not what I expected. Kya will at first win your admiration, then your heart. I would say that this is a book about personal strength and resilience more than anything. A good read for someone who enjoys strong main characters.
Phenomenal story telling style, I was hooked the whole time. The final twist had my jaw on the floor.
I thought it was really interesting! I really enjoyed the themes of nature as a living thing one can be in relationship with. I thought the ending could have been elaborated on, left some things to be desired. Plus the racial dynamics were sort of brushed over in ways that could have been more interesting if brought to the forefront. Overall I found it entertaining, surprising, and well written. Character development certainly could have gone deeper for many of the characters.
This book was quite engaging, and I appreciated the overarching plot. However, a significant suspension of disbelief was required, as many details seemed highly improbable.
Still my favourite book. Perfectly paced, fantastic characters, expertly written, plot is so thorough and fun to follow. If I have a daughter I’m gonna convince my wife to name her Kya.
Wow. This has to be the best book I have ever read. Can't even describe how perfect it is!
Kiya's love for nature is so inspiring. There's a lot to learn from her. Her interest in life and willingness to scrupulously explore the piece of the world where she lived made me wonder if I was missing something. Am I present enough in my own life?
3.5 ⭐️ rounded up - better than i expected ! i listened to the audiobook & the narrator REALLY went in on those accents
I read the book when it came out and I enjoyed it. I thought I would try the audio. WOW! It blew my mind. I didn't think I could love it more but the narrator did an excellent job of bringing the whole book to life!
This book was mostly enjoyable due to the scenic descriptions of nature and the relatability/“like-ability” of the main character
The story has so much potential, but I feel that the author spends way too much of the novel describing the main character's romantic relationships when that wasn't even the most interesting element of the plot. I feel that this also makes the pace of the story a little wonky-feeling.
Overall it was a chill read. Wouldn't necessarily recommend.
All these years, Goodreads still hasn't implemented a half-star rating? But yeah, 4.5/5 for me.
Por quais motivos daria menos que 5 estrelas a esta obra? Sem nenhum defeito, que história maravilhosa.
Holy cow what a ride! Really enjoyed this book despite being a few years late to read it.
very mid in my opinion... had some really interesting pieces, but also was really disappointing in other pieces and concepts were conveyed in a super obvious, in your face kind of way... I think this style of writing is just preferred by some people, but not really for me
