I liked it, but it was as enticing as the first two books of the chronicles. There was so much to the story line and too many secrets being kept.
This was really good. I'm upset at myself for finishing the series like this because now I have to wait for Winter to come out to get anything. UGH
Wow!! This book was AMAZING! I was a little unsure if Cress was going to live up to the other books at the beginning, but once everything came together it was just WOW! Love Love Love this book and I cannot wait for Winter. I NEED to know what happens next to these characters. I love them so much!
So. This book, in the beginning, was amazing. Pace was good. Action was good. Yay. However, CRESS. Oh god oh GOD i hate HATE crybabies. Seriously? She whimpers, trembles, and sobs in every single chapter or scene she appears. She was boring and uninteresting and made the book UNREADABLE. I went through a slump. I spent one week more on this book simply because of that really unnecessary desert chapter. It was useless. Annoying. Dragged on for too long. The ending, or rather the last action scene, made it for me. I liked it. I hope Winter is better. The only reason why I finished this today so fast was so I could move on to another book.
Edit; I lowered it to one-star because every time I think about a book I hated, this was it
AHHHH
I'm so impressed by how equally compelling I find all these characters and their various plotlines. We still have Cinder and Scarlet from the previous books, and now we've added Cress to the mix, and it's a lot to juggle but I'm on board with all of it. And the fairy tale retellings are so cleverly done, while still allowing for plenty of surprising plot twists.
When does the next one come out??? Soon right?? November 2015? nooooooooooo
Omg, so much happened in this book. Wow, it was that good. But now I'm sad that I have to wait so long to read the other books. :( 2015 can't come soon enough.
Ugh. THIS is why I don't want to get sucked into a series before it's actually complete. I really, really don't like cliffhangers.
I think this is a great series, and particularly enjoy the strong, resourceful, smart heroines Meyer creates with each of her novels. Because I thought the second book in the series was not as strong as the first, I was interested to see how I would react to this third installment - and I think it might be my favorite. Cress is a fascinating character, and it was great fun to watch her learn to embrace her strength. I appreciate that, while each character seems to have a romance, Meyer doesn't let it get in the way of the main action of the plot. Each character makes good and bad choices, and they seem realistic given the situation.
I'm very excited to read the final chapter in this series - Winter seems like another unique and interesting heroine that I can't wait to discover.
I know I'm picking at details, but you don't “coronate” someone. You crown him or her. The event is called a coronation because “crownation” is really awkward.
Nonetheless, enjoyed the book & looking forward to the next installment.
I was really excited to read this book but then it just seemed to drag on and on and on. I found myself skimming a lot of parts. I enjoyed Cress as a character, but wasn't too convinced by her journey. Let's hope the next installment is better.
What can I say about this series? I could say that the writing is beautiful in its simplicity; I could say that the characters are so well developed and unique that each voice is distinct and strong; I could say that the world is as lush and detailed as stepping out my front door and I could even say that with the addition of each new character to this cast of lovable misfits I grow more and more in love with every single one of them. But I can't describe how every chapter has me on edge. Every turn of events gets my heart racing and my mind spinning. Every word is an adrenaline rush until I finally reached the end feeling like I just ran a marathon of emotions. This series has me so captivated–Enthralled, Enchanted! Spellbound! Mesmerized! Pick your synonym–that I just want the whole world to read it and love it as much as I do.
