Probably one of the worst books I've read all year, such a disappointment.
So many things just didn't work in this one:
- The main character was an idiot and took far too long to react to and understand things
- The husband didn't believe her and thinks she's doing it herself, and of course blames mental health
- Everything felt dated, overwritten and dialogue was stilted
- The reveal was ridiculous and the why was even worse
- The narrator was British but all characters, except one, are American and it's set in Maine. Just a bizarre choice.
I would give this one a 4.5 honestly. It had me hooked since the very beginning and I was questioning every single thing. The thing that made me put it at a 4.5 instead of a 5 is the ending. I am very hard on endings of stories, so this one just seemed a bit abrupt. I loved the concept of the story and I wonder if there will be a sequel to this, if so I would definitely read it! I reccommend this book to everyone who enjoys a psychological thriller!
