Club Dead

I'm sick, and decided to listen to something light.

Quite poorly written imo, however the storyline is good; not sure I would have gotten into it if it weren't for the tv series

Really liked this Sookie Stackhouse book. It was neat seeing Sookie interact with other characters like Alcide and Eric. I really don't understand why Sookie has to be so beat up in all of these books so far, though.

I just can't get enough Sookie. And Eric, Sam and Alcide. Bill, meh.

Club Dead is a vast improvement on the first two books of the Sookie Stackhouse series. Not that the first two weren't entertaining, but Club Dead has a much more tightly wound story, with a lot of tension and excitement. The character of Sookie also further establishes herself as an empowered heroine, even in the roughest and most vulnerable of circumstances. Charlaine Harris takes a very real, sometimes gritty, approach to the supernatural, which I personally much prefer to the more fairytale-like perspective that writers' like Stephenie Meyer take, and in this book that style really comes out in a strong way, making for a read that is rewarding as well as entertaining.
