This would be a 4.5 stars for me! It flowed a little less than the first book but was a great sequel, so many ‘oh my god' moments! Can't wait for the final instalment!
Cover buku kedua ini adalah Jem Carstairs. Aku lebih suka Jem dibanding Will.
I liked this book a lot more than I liked Clockwork Angel. I hope that the third book will be just as good or better.
3.5/5 stars
O que foi que essa muiee feeez!??!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!??!?!?!?!?
Como ela escreve umas coisas dessas e pede para que achemoa tudo bem??
Este foi o livro com as melhores citações.
Will é o cara mais PARA CASAR do universo.
Thoroughly disappointed in this book. I read a lot of pages and I'm really no further along in the storyline than after Clockwork Angel. I still don't know where Mortmain is, I don't know what Tessa is, and we still have a lot of love triangle angst. I do, however, know that Will has blue eyes because there are about 50 BAJILLION references made about them.
I will finish the trilogy because I seriously need to know what Tessa is. And to find out what “the big surprise” is.
Oh... so much drama. I really enjoyed this book, I prefer this series to the city of bones(ashes, glass etc.)
Jem ♥
Merged review:
Superó al primero!! Oh Gosh, Will!!! Yem... cómo odiarlo? o resentirse con él? Imposible!!! Tessa, sigue sin caerme bien.
One of the main reasons I had enjoyed Clockwork Angel was because the romance, although present, wasn't a main part of the story or at least it didn't take over the story that unfortunately or fortunately (depending on what you are looking for) changes in Clockwork Prince. The love triangle that was only showing signs of starting in the first book, with Tessa being oblivious to Jem's feelings and Will doing whatever he could to scare her off him, changes in Clockwork Prince and becomes the main focus while the plot surrounding the Magister takes a back seat.
By the end of Clockwork Angel it's pretty obvious that Will has a secret, a secret that is behind the reason he always acts so callous and brash towards the people closest to him and I won't tell you what the reason is but in Clockwork Prince Will seeks out the help of Magnus a warlock, who I had enjoyed reading about in Clockwork Angel, to put a stop to what's plaguing him.
On the Institute side of things, the Clave has charged Charlotte with the duty of locating the Magister and if she doesn't find him in a specific amount of time she will be replaced as Head of the Institute, an action that could leave Tessa out on the streets and unprotected. Not only does Tessa have this to worry about but she still thinks about her brother, Nate, who betrayed her as well as her growing feelings for Jem and the mixed signals she's getting from Will.
If I thought Clockwork Angel was character-centric then Clockwork Prince is even more so. We get to learn a lot more about Will's past and why he became a Shadowhunter and Jem finally shows a side that isn't always calm and put together. We even learn a little more about the Magister and the reason behind his hatred of the Shadowhunters which shows these policemen of the Downworlders may not be so angelic after all. There is also a lot of mystery behind what Tessa really is and why she was created and at the end of Clockwork Prince we still have no idea what she is and with all this anticipation Cassandra Clare is building up it better be worth the wait.
I didn't love it as much as the first book, Tessa was too fickle for my tastes, but it was still a fun read and I can't wait for Clockwork Princess to be released.
Maybe I'm too old to be reading these books, but the abundance of kissing and thinking about kissing, as opposed to Defending Good and Kicking Ass, turned me off somewhat. So sayeth the old fuddy-duddy.
I am so annoyed and disappointed with certain parts of this book. I absolutely love the main storyline but the love triangle is so ridiculous and makes me really dislike Tessa. This is her only flaw in the book and it is such a huge flaw that it just ruins her character for me. Choosing someone because you pity for them is never excusable, it is just plain wrong. She obviously doesn't want to be with Jem and only said yes because he is dying. Both Will and Tessa are miserable by the end of the book, but poor Jem is blissfully oblivious and it is really unnecessary. I wanted Tessa to choose Will, at first just because I liked them more, but now I want her to choose Will because she doesn't deserve to be with Jem.
And don't even get me started on Will's change in character. The Will Herondale I fell in love with in the first book is completely changed by the end of the second book and I hate it. HATE IT. I love broken, tortured, cynical, Will. I loved that he didn't care what anyone thought of him, and I loved his snarky remarks and sarcasm about everything. I loved his darkness. He had the face of a bad angel and eyes like the night sky in Hell.“WILL SPREAD HIS ARMS WIDE. ON HIS KNEES, GRINNING LIKE A DEMON, BLOOD DRIPPING FROM HIS MOUTH, HE BARELY LOOKED HUMAN HIMSELF. ‘COME AND GET ME.'” I wanted that Will to make an appearance so badly in this book and it never happened. Apparently it was all an act in the first book. Instead, we get the same character that is in almost every other book. Puppy dog Will. Mopey Will. All turned into fucking giddy, enthusiastic, sweet Will? Apparently that is the real Will. NO. DO NOT WANT. “Will, if you could go anywhere in the world, where would you go? ‘Straight to hell.” He was so unique and special and now it's all ruined.
Don't get me wrong, Cassandra Clare's writing is really good, (aside from the last 1/4th of the book seeming like it came straight off of fanfiction.net which I find strange because her writing is usually much better than that.) and I did truly enjoy the book just because I like the story line and the characters. I love the detailed descriptions Clare uses in her writing. She captures character's emotions in a way not other writer can, for me at least.
I had trouble deciding how many stars to give this book, 3 or 4, but ultimately chose 4 stars because, although I despise the love triangle and my all time favorite book character was completely ruined, I still couldn't put the book down and I'm now anxious for Clockwork Princess to come out.
