i love this book sm
read for the tarot readathon 2023: wheel of fortune
this is how you do a slasher AND GUESS WHAT?! it's by a black author with characters of color. literally my perfect slasher
This one came highly recommended but ultimately didn't really land with me. Aside from the last one the kills were really underwhelming for me. I never really got invested in the little romance which seemed undercooked to me, so the payoff wasn't really there at the end. Ultimately, I think I might just not be the right audience for this book so take my opinion with a grain of salt.
Was not as fun as I had expected. I didn't like the ritual storyline and the deaths were not as gruesome as I had hoped. There were also way too many characters to keep track of and the multiple POVs past and present didn't work for me. Tastes Like Candy was a much better and way more fun carnival slasher.
bloody fun with some speculative elements and a summer setting- exactly what i was looking for!
Solid gory fun with some great turns along the way. Doesn't overstay its welcome too.
This was a very good horror read! It takes place in an old closed down carnival where some gruesome murders took place 20 years earlier. Sound like the same old thing? Not quite! This isn't your standard slasher book, although it has the usual bloody guts and gore that we all love and adore. It has some originality and some depth. The murderers have a history and the plot holds the reader's interest. The book jumps between 1989 and 2019, telling the story in present day and of how it came to become haunted. Very enjoyable read. I will definitely be looking for more books in this series and for books by Jessica Guess.
