if you've come seeking S.E. Harmon's iconic snark and banter, rest assured–you're about to get it in spades! but in my unfortunate case, the dark & unforgiving atmosphere i surmised from the gorgeous cover and intriguing blurb that i was more than ready to submerge myself in worked against me as the excessive snark oftentimes felt out of place, taking me out of the story rather than dragging me further into its clutches. (go into this expecting more of an Alice Winters-esque book! if you like that narrative style, this will probably be right up your alley!)
before i start making lists as my brain is apt to do, i do want to say that the premise of this story is intense! i love a good amnesia trope (topped with a second chance romance too, yum) that kicks off from the very get-go because we're just as clueless as the mc is and get to uncover truths at the same time they do (versus oh no amnesia in the middle of the story and feeling like everything up until that point was for naught
