Lenny Gingerich leaves the interstate during a storm and finds himself 100 years in the past, or so it seems. An accident leaves him stranded on an Amish farm. Within days, he is driving a six-horse hitch and caught up in an old-fashioned love triangle. Bishop Mose tells Lenny to stay away from the girls, but try as he might, that is not easy. Lenny and his sidekick, a dog named Russell, both have a knack for getting themselves into trouble and everything becomes a tangled mess. While farming with horses, Lenny hears a catbird singing beautiful spring songs, which turn into an annoying meow as summer heats up. Life becomes difficult for a young man who doesn't understand catbirds or Amish girls.

Catbird Singing is the second book in the Amish Horse series and I did read the first book, Under the Heavens, however didn't care for it completely. Though I didn't like the first book, I saw that it had a lot of potential as a series so picked up the second and gave it a chance.
I do have to say that this one was much better than the first in several ways. My major complaint in the first was that the main character was inconsistent and wasn't as developed as he could have been, however I saw improvements in Lenny in Catbird Singing. The storyline was also a lot more interesting in this book than it was in the first, and I love how the author told the story.
The only complaint that I have about Catbird Singing is that the author got overly detailed on a few scenes that made the scene slightly boring; causing me to skip it. But these were few and the majority of the book was very well written.
So therefore I rate Catbird Singing 4 out of 5 stars and recommend it to fans of Amish Fiction :-)
