However, while his intentions are to be protective and consider every detail, his approach continues to hinder his progress. The 4 stars is because of the growth, but it’s not 5 because he doesn’t consider Eva to be an equal. My heart HURTS for Eva because of the shit she has been put through, not only by him, but by Brett, her mother, and even Cary (but in different ways). The only constant characters that I continue to love and could do no wrong is Mark and Steven.

I’m honestly just glad Eva recognizes the extreme codependency and the act of losing herself when she’s with him. At the end, she is much more cautious about breaking their unhealthy habits. However, I will say, their unhealthy habits of having sex instead of talking through their problems, seems to benefit them one way or another. For example, elevator scene, even the somewhat brutal actions, they had a revelation that changes their dynamic. Also, with the scene right before their huge fight towards the end, she was able to find solid grounds with the trust and reassurance she had in him and more confidence within herself. Which, in my opinion, is huge for characters in books where they are lovesick for each other.

It was exhausting at some points trying to read about Gideon’s mishaps. He has his good moments, but he’s not very demure. It’s giving 1 step forward, 3 steps back (specifically referring to the Olivia Rodrigo song).

Anyways, I very much liked it and proceeded to the next book in the series.

Setelah buku ketiga kukira ak sdh kekurangan minat thd seri ini dan bang! buku 4 mengejutkanku krn di buku ini koneksi antara Eva & Gideon semakin mendalam. Mereka sdh menikah diam2 & Gideon mulai membuka diri, walau blm total. Di akhir cerita krn Eva (yg menurutku msh terlalu kekanakan merespon sikap protektif Gideon) meninggalkan Gideon sementara waktu krn gk terima antisipasi yg dilakukan Gideon thd pekerjaan Eva.
Disini ak mulai deh melirik Gideon sbg perfect husband, kyknya ak mulai suka krn mereka berdua sdh menikah ya, jd adegan2 intimnya jd terasa gk begitu terasa dosa hehehe). Dan disinilah terasa keahlian tante Sylvia, kalo daya tarik seri ini bkn hanya hubungan Eva & Gideon yg meledak2. Dan ada cerita ttg eva menyanyi Brave nya Sara Bareilles kemudian dibalas oleh Gideon yg menyanyikan lagunya Lifehouse (sampe liat youtube penasaran dgn lagu lifehouse yg gideon nyanyikan untuk Eva ini).
Anyway...klo buku kelima diterjemahkan sdh pasti ak akan membacanya...

my last reread before i can really get into book 5 i think i knocked out all 4 books in a week. I actually enjoyed this one more the second time around.

Gideon and Eva's crazy love story picks up where we left them, together but on shaky ground. This one is focused more on Gideon and the lengths he will go to to keep Eva safe and with him. Gideon is the definition of “loving someone too much” and he knows he couldn't live without Eva. There's a ton of fighting and even more sex. Rough, gentle, kinky, sweet.....Eva and Gideon are constantly going at it. And I loved it.
Every.
Freaking.
Word.

I am a sucker for male POvs and for crazy psycho heroes, as my love for This man trilogy easily states. So this one was easily a winner for me, with Gideon going all crazy soft with loooove. sigh.
