une petite déception pour cette rencontre ratée.

Le résumé me faisait pourtant envie et le livre semblait avoir tout pour me plaire mais comme beaucoup je suis ressortie mitigée de cette lecture.

Pour cause le livre aborde beaucoup de sujets, trop même, résultat on s'embrouille, et cela donne l'impression d'une narration brouillonne qui d'un côté en dit trop et de l'autre pas assez.

D'autant que plein d'éléments ne collent pas du tout avec le style original de l'histoire, on se retrouve donc (trop souvent) avec des moments san queue ni tête.

Je n'ai aussi pas trop accroché à la seconde partie du roman avec univers parallèle et prophétie bancale qui ne m'a convaincue qu'à moitié.

On m'avait vendu une histoire de dragons et de ce côté là mes attentes n'ont pas du tout étaient atteintes donc pour moi c'est un flop.

Mais tout n'est pas à jeter, il y a quand même du bon dans ce roman malgré ça, à commencer par les personnages qui sont clairement la force de ce livre. Des personnages intéressants, que l'on comprend et auxquels on s'attache inévitablement.

Pareil pour le (seul) dragon dans cette supposée histoire de dragons, j'ai bien aimé son caractère particulier et me suis très vite attaché à lui.

Il y a aussi eu dans l'histoire une petite romance M/M à un moment, sympa au début mais encore une fois mes attentes n'ont pas étaient pleinement atteintes. C'est trop survolé et en plus ça part très vite en sucettes donc bon..

Je mets quand même 2.5 étoiles pour la 1e partie du roman qui était intéressante et intriguante avant que le tout devienne parfaitement incompréhensible dans la seconde moitié. Pareil je compte les personnages dans la note finale car ils étaient vraiment chouettes.

Dragon book! And holy shit that is a hell of a book, that was so much and awesome. I want more from this world, but I feel like it was finished so well in this one.

This is closer to 4.5 stars. Way better than I initially expected! Really enjoyed it. The characters and themes were really good. Expected nothing less from Patrick ☺️

This is one of the most unpredictable books I've ever read. The writing is beautiful, the story is dark and deep and strange. It won't be for everyone, but I think it's worth trying.

I really loved this! I couldn't stop reading it. The characters were so complex and fully realized. The plot was brilliant and unpredictable. I was particularly impressed with the way it handled the major plot point in the middle. A change that significant can be hard to pull off, but this book did without losing momentum.
As a book about racism, inequality, prejudice, and police brutality it struck as particularly powerful in this current moment.
