Burden

I am not positive about the 4-star rating... let me explain.

The plotline is okay. It's lacking in action and development. After Echo is rescued the story becomes a little boring. You skip days with just a few scenes. Ms. Felix could have done so much more.

But the relationship between Echo and Hawk is very well done. I loved the fight for compromise. I was not comfortable with the gender roles or the underlying religious commentary. But the genuine desire to give your loved one everything they need was sigh-worthy.

The 4-star rating was earned with their relationship and the ability of Ms. Felix to make you truly connect with her characters. I cried so much at the end of this book that my husband stopped me from reading to make sure I was okay.

I would recommend this book for when you need that confirmation that love exists.
