If love is a bird with broken wings, even if you set it free, it will not be able to fly. When Adrien meets Phillipp, they are both badly damaged from painful past experiences and recovering from their own wounds, trying to close the door on bad memories. But recovery is so much faster and better when you have someone who believes in you and helps you get back on your feet. This is one of the most heart-wrenching, slow-burning love stories following the difficult path of healing and rebuilding self-esteem. Every emotion in this book is like a live wire laid out raw, bare ,and fractured in a way that makes the reader experience every feeling, every thought, every sound very acutely. Adrien is a fictional character, but who doesn't want a friend or partner like this. The slow burn was perfectly in sync with the trauma represented on page and the love bloomed so very gently step by step.
